Spencer Ritchie represents clients in a range of commercial and residential litigation matters across the District of Columbia and Virginia, including proceedings in D.C. Superior Court, the D.C. Office of Administrative Hearings, and Virginia state courts. His practice focuses on real estate and construction-related disputes, as well as corporate matters, including contract disputes, property ownership claims, Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) issues, landlord-tenant disputes and eviction proceedings, land use matters, building code violations, and Department of Buildings citations, among other legal concerns impacting property owners, managers, developers, and businesses. 

A practical problem solver and litigator when needed, Spencer works with clients to resolve disputes both in and out of the courtroom, focusing on protecting their interests and achieving practical, efficient outcomes. Known for his thoughtful and systematic approach, he partners with clients to understand their objectives and develop clear, effective strategies tailored to each legal matter. Spencer handles all phases of litigation, from early case assessment and strategy development through discovery, motion practice, and hearings.

Prior to joining GDL, Mr. Ritchie served as a Judicial Law Clerk for Judge Jason Park at the D.C. Superior Court. During law school, Mr. Ritchie assisted the defense team for a nationally prominent white-collar criminal prosecution in the Eastern District of Virginia and District of Columbia as a summer associate.
