URGENT NOTICE: NEW DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA LAW PROHIBITS RESIDENTIAL EVICTIONS DURING EXTREME HEAT

Effective April 16, 2026, residential evictions in Washington, D.C., are subject to a new restriction. The Extreme Heat Eviction Protection Amendment Act of 2025 (D.C. Law 26-0108), codified at D.C. Code §42-3505.01(k)(3), states:

On any day when the National Weather Service predicts at 8:00 a.m. the temperature at the National Airport weather station will rise above 95 degrees Fahrenheit or 35 degrees Celsius, no evictions may occur.
