Biography:  Born in Olean, New York, Mr. Walker received his law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1987 and graduated magna cum laude in 1983 from Susquehanna University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.  He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland.  He is also a member of the Sections on Real Estate, Housing and Land Use and Corporation, Finance and Securities Law of the District of Columbia Bar, and a member of the American Bar Association (Real Property Probate and Trust Section and Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law).

 

Mr. Walker's legal practice involves the regional and national representation of lenders, developers, investors and others in all aspects of acquiring, financing and developing commercial, residential and mixed-use properties, including properties financed through Federal, state and conventional housing and financing programs, mortgage-backed securities transactions, and programs of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  His practice includes real estate finance and development law; housing law; and real estate related commercial and corporate law.

 

 Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Walker was associated with several law firms, and most recently with a firm specializing in affordable housing, where he represented lenders in FHA-insured mortgage loan closings for new construction, as well as the rehabilitation and refinancing of existing projects.  He also represented owners in analyzing HUD-related issues in connection with owning, financing and selling affordable housing and HUD-insured projects.
