Biography: Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Mr. Holmes was awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University in 1988. While obtaining his degree, he acted as a member of the Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees of Temple University, served as Secretary of the Temple Student Government, acted as Chairman of the Lectures Committee of Temple's Program Board, and, from his sophomore year through graduation, served as a resident assistant with Temple's student housing department. He spent his summers during college financing his education by working as a bartender in Wildwood, New Jersey.
In 1993 Mr. Holmes earned his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law. While a student at CUA, Mr. Holmes was a Moot Court Associate and served as Lead Articles Editor of The Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. Mr. Holmes left his position as a commercial office lease consultant to the Cafritz Company and became associated with the Firm in December, 1996.
Mr. Holmes's practice is centered on commercial lease negotiations. He has extensive experience in preparing and negotiating a wide range of lease-related documents, including commercial office and retail leases, subleases, assignment agreements, antenna and cabling agreements, construction agreements and personal guaranties. Mr. Holmes's practice also includes aspects of real estate development, property management, real estate transactions, business development and other matters.
Mr. Holmes is a Member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and its Real Estate, Housing and Land Use Section; the New York State Bar Association; the American Bar Association and its Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section; the Greater Washington Commercial Association of REALTORS®; the Apartment and Office Building Owners Association of Metropolitan Washington; and the District of Columbia Building Industry Association. Mr. Holmes has also served as an instructor with the BOMI Institute Property Manager's Course on Commercial Law. |
