Biography:  Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Goldberg was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1974.  He completed his undergraduate and law school education at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (B.S. 1953) and Brooklyn Law School, Brooklyn, New York (L.L.B. 1960) respectively.  He was also admitted to the Bar in the State of New York in 1961.

 

Mr. Goldberg began his career with the Federal Housing Administration (now a part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD) in 1961 as a staff attorney in the Washington, D.C. Headquarters.  He then served as a regional attorney in the Chicago Regional Office of FHA from 1965 to 1968 where he was responsible for multifamily loan closings in a seven state area.  In 1968 he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the FHA Insuring Office in Chicago. 

 

Mr. Goldberg left the government in 1970 and returned to Washington where he has been in private practice specializing in real estate finance and development.  He has focused primarily on the apartment and health facilities financing programs of HUD and Fannie Mae and has represented developers, lenders and contractors in their involvement in the HUD and Fannie Mae programs throughout the United States.  Mr. Goldberg has also been active in the Mortgage Bankers Association of America and served on their Insured Project Committee and the Multifamily Housing Committee.
