Recent legislative changes which have made third-party bidding at D.C. real property tax sales more attractive and have authorized the District to sell portfolios of its real property tax liens. Our attorneys are actively involved in representing clients in these areas of business activity in the following respects:
Identifying and locating those with ownership or lien interests in the properties;
Prosecuting litigation to foreclose the right of redemption and to quiet the title to property;
Obtaining relief from the automatic stay in bankruptcy proceedings which is triggered by the filing of bankruptcy petitions by persons with ownership or lien interests in properties on which tax liens exist; and
Interacting with representatives of the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue to facilitate tax lien collection efforts. |
